Silicon oil insulating oil, referred to as silicon oil, is not separated and refined from petroleum, but a synthetic compound. The most commonly used silicone oil: methyl silicone oil, also known as ordinary silicone oil, whose organic groups are all methyl, has good chemical stability, insulation and hydrophobic properties. The traditional insulating oil for power equipment is mineral oil extracted from oil, which is widely used in transformers and other equipment. Because the mineral insulating oil is mainly composed of carbon and hydrogen, the rest contains a small amount of metallic and non-metallic impurities. The flash point is about 150 ℃. When the operating temperature of the equipment is high, it is easy to cause fire or even explosion; In addition, the use of mineral insulating oil has the following two obvious defects: first, it will cause environmental pollution in case of leakage; Second, mineral insulating oil is taken from non-renewable high-grade oil, which not only wastes energy, but also will eventually face the situation of no oil available.

 

Vegetable insulating oil, also known as natural ester and insulating vegetable oil, as an environment-friendly high burning point insulating oil, has very excellent flame-resistant properties. Its ignition point is more than 350 ℃, far higher than traditional mineral oil, and higher than high burning point hydrocarbon oil, silicone oil, synthetic ester and other high burning point products. In its more than 10 years of application, vegetable oil transformer has not had any fire record, while mineral oil transformer and dry-type transformer have had fire. Among all insulating oil products at present, vegetable oil has excellent environmental protection characteristics, and its biodegradability can reach 98% within 20 days. It has no harm to water and aquatic animals and is non-toxic by mouth. Therefore, even if the transformer leaks, it will not cause harm to the environment.

 

In addition, vegetable oil comes from natural plants. The plants absorb carbon dioxide during the growth process, which can effectively reduce carbon emissions, and do not need to be burned after use. Vegetable oil can effectively reduce the moisture in the insulating paper and prolong the life of the insulating paper due to its strong hydrophilic property, thus extending the life of the transformer
